QUIAPO, PHILIPPINES

 

 

Through encounters with young locals an elderly Italian catholic missionary has during a stroll around his parish, this film explores the Feast of the Black Nazarene (Poong Itim na Nazareno), a yearly religious procession in Quiapo, Manila, attended by several million devotees each January 9th for the past 400 years.

 

Quiapo is the most densely populated neighborhood of the city of Manila.

In addition to locals, the district receives many young migrants from the countryside and rural areas.
