This film deals with the youngest generation of the Kaifeng Jews,a small Jewish community in Kaifeng, a Henan province of China.

 

Here the inhabitants have assimilated Chinese society through the centuries, while preserving some Jewish traditions and customs.

 

Michelle is a young member of this community, she was sent away from her home in Kaifang at the age of 10 and began traveling around the Country undertaking humble jobs.

 

She eventually shipwrecked in Beijing, where she remains and still hopes for her only dream to come true: going to Israel to keep studying Hebrew.

 

The Film premiered at the 2008 Vienna Biennale of contemporary art.
